Community Highlights-Youth Sports
Youth sports is a center piece of Fernandina’s small town feel. There are a number of area sports that children as young as three and four can become involved in.
For baseball, Fernandina Beach Babe Ruth League is available for ages 4-15. Signups usually start at the first of January with the season ending in May. Elm Street Little League also offers baseball under the Little League Baseball banner.
Amelia Island Youth Soccer offers recreational soccer for kids as well as competitive soccer for 9, 10, 12 and 14 year olds. Visit their website to find out more.
McArthur Family YMCA offers several different programs. The YMCA offers basketball and a year round swim team. The Fernandina Stingrays also provide competitive swimming for kids ages 4-18 that can swim.
Fernandina Beach Pop Warner offers tackle football in the fall as well as flag football in the spring. Signups for tackle flag football begin in the late spring through summer with conditioning beginning in mid August. For more information, visit their website.
Not only are these organizations available to serve our area youth, they provide an opportunity for adults to give back to the community. These organizations are always in need of volunteers to help coach and mentor young girls and boys. With the exception of the YMCA, these organizations are run by volunteers and can always use willing people to help. If you’re interested in helping, contact a board member from these organizations
